About Me

The last significant change in television viewing habits occurred when people were no longer limited to watching just the 'big three' broadcast networks. In the 1990's, they increasingly included hundreds of niche cable networks into their mix. By 2003, the combined audience watching the cable-only networks exceeded that of the 4 broadcast networks.

During local cable's assent into a multi-billion dollar advertising medium, I was the CEO of CAM Systems. I built this company from a startup into the leading supplier of traffic & billing software to Comcast, Time Warner, Cox, Charter, and Cablevision. This also gave me a good opportunity to build long-lasting relationship throughout a number of inter-connected businesses and know how each leader thinks.

Today, another titanic shift is occurring and it is caused by specific technologies: VOD (Video on Demand), DVR's (Digital Video Recorders), and IPTV (Internet Protocol Television). What makes these technologies interesting is that they shift the balance of power from the television network executives into the hands of people.

I presently head up VODscape, LLC, and consult to media companies about video on demand and its impact on advertising. Clients include marquee names such as Comcast, Time Warner, and Donovan Data Systems.

Additionally, I consult to a number of technology companies -- primarily helping define their business plans and implement business development efforts.
